High Point Depot

This unusual train depot was originally constructed in 1907 by the Southern Railway company, and was one of the line’s most popular stops in its heyday. For a while it fell into disrepair, but has since been restored to its original splendor. Fancy riding the rails? The depot still serves as a passenger terminal.

John Coltrane Statue

High Point was the birthplace of 1965’s Jazzman of the Year, John Coltrane. Jazz aficionados will enjoy paying a visit to the 8-foot tall commemorative statue of the creator of such legendary jazz records as A Love Supreme and Blue Train.

World’s Largest Chest of Drawers

When you hear the phrase, you may have a picture in your head of what the world’s largest chest of drawers looks like. This is probably bigger. Dwarfing the buildings that surround it, this iconic example of pop architecture has been a proud symbol of the “Furniture Capital of the World” since 1926.

High Point Museum

History buffs both young and old will be fascinated by this museum. Here, you’ll find living history exhibits, including a working blacksmith’s shop, weaving, spinning, and corn husk doll-making demonstrations, as well as more than 37,000 historical artifacts.
